The choice of the right heating element depends on many criteria e.g. maximum application temperature, holding time at maximum application temperature or application atmosphere. Based on that it is important to know, which heating element is suitable for your process.

The product range of SCHUPP® Ceramics covers 6 different heating element qualities with specific properties to be used in sophisticated application areas. The following overview shows and describes our different heating elements qualities.

Description and maximum element temperature
MolyCom®-Ultra Consisting of molybdenum disilicide (MoSi2) with ceramic additives. It is particularly durable and conform to industrial standards.
MolyCom®-Ultra 1700 Max. element temperature under air 1700°C.
MolyCom®-Ultra 1800 Max. element temperature under air 1780°C.
MolyCom®-Ultra 1850 Max. element temperature under air 1820°C.
MolyCom®-Hyper Consisting of high purity raw materials, which allow a discoloration-free sintering of zirconia.
MolyCom®-Hyper 1800 Discoloration-free sintering of zirconia up to 1600°C.
Max. element temperature under air 1800°C.
MolyCom®-Hyper 1800SC Higher purity as MolyCom®-Hyper 1800 and enables a discoloration-free sintering of zirconia above 1600°C.
Max. element temperature under air 1800°C.
MolyCom®-Hyper 1800AP Special element type, which is particularly resistant to oxidation during longer holding times from 200°C to 700°C.
Max. element temperature under air 1800°C.

Use of heating elements in different process or application atmospheres.

Electrically-heated high-temperature furnaces with MoSi2 heating elements can be used in different process atmospheres like air, nitrogen (N2), argon (Ar), helium (He) or hydrogen (H2). The highest possible application temperature can be achieved in air atmosphere. However, MoSi2 heating elements are also successfully applied in the other mentioned atmospheres taking into account the maximum recommended element temperatures.

The following charts illustrate the maximum element temperatures of MolyCom®-Ultra and MolyCom®-Hyper depending on the application atmosphere.
